NPD end fitting used as a retirement memento

Description

An end fitting of the type used at the Nuclear Power Demonstration (NPD) reactor adapted as the basis of an analogue clock. The item was manufactured as a retirement memento and was given to C.A. (Al) Herriot on the occasion of his retirement from AECL in recognition of his efforts at the power station. The memento sits on a 30 cm by 15 cm wooden base and the end fitting is approximately 14 cm in diameter. The plaque reads ”To Al Herriot on the occasion of his retirement June 1983, from his friends and colleagues at NPD and CGE.”
