A Model 965 Moore and Wright, nominal 1”, micrometer complete with tightening wrench. The micrometer sits in a wooden box that is 15 cm in length by 7 cm wide by 2.5 cm high and has a sliding top. Engraved into the rotating spindle of the micrometer is the manufacturer’s name (Moore & Wright (Sheffield) Ltd. England) and a conversion scale from fractional parts of an inch to decimal scale (i.e. 1/64 “ = 0.15625 “). The Moore & Wright company was established in 1906 and is now part of the Bowers Group. This micrometer belonged to Bill McAlpin, a draftsman in the neutron spectroscopy group at CRNL.
