A set of three drafting compasses which are also described in the literature as “bow pencils”. The three are all manufactured by the famed German company of Keuffel and Esser. The larger of the three, which is 16 cm in length, is a Model 55 1748 while the smaller of the boxed units, which measures 11 cm in length, is a Model 55 3109. The third unboxed unit is the same size as the smaller boxed one but has minor variations in construction. It is stamped with the K&E logo and was also made in Germany. This set was used by Bill McAlpin, a draftsman in the neutron spectroscopy group at CRNL.
