Description

An AECL-produced handout representing a typical CANDU fuel pellet.  The pellets of uranium oxide typically are just under 1 cm in diameter and are 1-1.5 cm in length depending on the particular fuel design.  The handout indicates that a single pellet in a CANDU reactor can produce the energy equivalent to that produced by burning 807 kilograms of coal or 677 l of oil.  The handout measures 15 cm by 17.5 cm.
