A 1940s-era wooden chair that once was used by the staff of Defence Industries Limited (DIL), the management company given the task, in 1943-44, of constructing of the physical plant at Chalk River and of the town of Deep River. A stamped notice on the bottom of the chair reads “ D-I-L REPAIRS MADE 6 1943” presumed to be June 1943. Heavy, crossed wires have been added to strengthen the back of the chair and are assumed to be “the repair”.
