The “hotline” telephone from the Control Room of the National Reactor Universal (NRU) at Chalk River dedicated solely as a contact point to the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) in the case of an emergency occurring with the operation of the reactor. The secure, dedicated-line, Model K-1500 P-D, telephone was manufactured by Viking Electronics. Within NRU Operations it was nicknamed the “Bat Phone”.
